S020: 6 Things to do before quitting your job for entreprenuership with Anita Okanigbe-John

Quitting your job for entrepreneurship can be exciting and full of promise. But if you live in Nigeria and don’t do that properly, you will heading straight on for the electric pole. In this episode, Anita Okanigbe-John, an Aston Business School graduate, business strategist and performance coach, explains the six things that you should do before quitting your job for entrepreneurship.

Episode Takeaways

In this episode, you will learn

  • One thing about Anita not on the internet,
  • Why she quitted a high paying job,
  • Her struggles as a newbie in business,
  • 6 things you must do before quitting your job,
  • Her time travelling experience on Swiych, and
  • How she fared in our word game segment.

One thing about Anita not on the Internet until now

Yes, I asked Anita to tell us one thing about her that is not already on the internet. Having written her autobiography, Miracle in the Storm, this was a pretty hard nut to crack for her. But she found one thing and shared it with us! Listen to her now

I quitted my Job out of frustration

When you have a well-paying job in a bank, you have to have a very tangible reason. But the word tangible is relative. For Anita, she just got to work, and without any prior preparation for it, she quitted. And that was it. I asked her why she did so in this episode.

Just before you quit your own Job

It was not long after she quitted her job when she realised it might not have been a great idea to quit at that time. Being new to the business world then, she struggled with a couple of things that encouraged her to get a second job. In spite of all these challenges and setbacks, Anita was set on making her business work and was passionate about helping other businesses grow.

Anita Time travelling experience

Yes, we took Anita on a time travelling experience on Swiych and she went back to when she was 10 years old! Without any regrets for where she is now, she would have made a critical decision and she “NO” where she said yes.

In conclusion,

No one said entrepreneurship would be easy (well except the media). However, who says you should make your journey harder by neglecting simple things? This episode is just right for you because it explains the 6 critical things that will allow you transit from a 9-5 job to entrepreneurship smoothly. Listen to this podcast now.
